Glens Falls, N.Y.-- Skidmore College pitcher
Trevor Brucato was recently signed by the Glens Falls Golden Eagles of the
New York Collegiate Baseball League.
The summer wooden bat league is a developmental league for professional baseball, giving players who have not yet signed a professional contract the opportunity to develop their skills at a higher level of play, gain experience with wood bats, and be evaluated by scouts.
Former Skidmore baseball standout Matt Ferrari is an assistant coach for the Golden Eagles. The 2005 graduate is also an assistant coach at Catholic University in Washington, D.C.
Brucato is the first Skidmore player to play in the 14-team league that features mostly NCAA Division I prospects.
Brucato, who will be a senior this fall, was 3-4 with a team-leading 2.16 ERA in 12 appearances for the Thoroughbreds this spring. He tossed a no-hitter in a 1-0 win over St. Michael's College and had 49 strikeouts in 66.2 innings.
Skidmore set a program win record, finishing 30-15. The Thoroughbreds went 3-0 to win the Liberty League Tournament, beating top-seed Rochester once and Clarkson twice. The team a pair of one-run games in the NCAA tournament, 1-0 to Keene State and 7-6 to Castleton State.
