Saratoga Springs, N.Y. - Oneonta State scored a pair of unearned runs in the eighth inning on the way to a 4-2 non-league baseball win over Skidmore College, Tuesday at Castle Diamond.

The Thoroughbreds are 25-11, while the Red Dragons are 27-10. Skidmore will close out the regular season with a four-game series against Rensselaer on Friday and Saturday. Oneonta opens SUNYAC tournament play on Friday at Cortland.

The Red Dragons struck first with two runs in the second. Mike Mascari reached on a fielders choice and scored on a double by Steve Gauck. After ground out to second, Cody Hitt doubled to plate Gauck for a 2-0 lead.

Skidmore tied it in the fourth. Brian Lowry and Zack Rudman had consecutive one-out doubles to make it 2-1. Rudman tied it when he scored from second on a failed pick-off.

In the eighth, Michael DeCarr reached first on an infield error and then stole second. Scott Dubben singled to advance DeCarr to third. A Thoroughbred miscue as Dubben stole second, allowed DeCarr to score. Dubben later scored on a sacrifice fly by Dan Randall for the 4-2 final.

Anthony Bates (3-4) got the win in relief for Oneonta. He threw 4.1 scoreless innings, allowing four hits, no walks and five strikeouts. Jordan Keysor (0-1) took the loss for Skidmore. He gave up two unearned runs in 3.1 innings on three hits no walks and one strikeout.

Rudman finished 2-4 for Skidmore. For the Red Dragons, Gauck was 2-4 with a pair of doubles, Dubben was 2-4, and Jonathan Wolfanger was 3-3 off the bench.
