Canton, N.Y.-- A trio of Thoroughbred pitchers combined on a six-hit shutout as Skidmore beat St. Lawrence 3-0 to snag a split of the Liberty League doubleheader for the second straight day.  The Saints won the first game 4-1.

Skidmore improves to 19-7 overall and 8-4 in the Liberty League while the Saints are 14-12 overall and 9-7 in Liberty League play.

In the first game, Saint Pat Considine pitched a six-hitter, allowing just one unearned run and Bryan Brennan hit a two run homer and doubled. Considine improved to 3-0 on the season with his complete game effort in game one. He walked four and struck out seven.

The Saints, playing as the visiting team on their home field in day two of the Liberty League set, jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the thir.d as Ethan Braddock walked and Brennan drove the ball over the left field fence against Skidmore starter Spencer Marcus, who sustained his first loss after six straight wins to start the season.

The Thoroughbreds cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth when Brian Lowry reached on an error and scored on a single by Mike Jaffe, but the Saints scored in the top of the fifth and picked up another run in the top of the sixth.

In the second game, Skidmore's Nick Laracuente earned his fourth win of the season, pitching into the sixth and Jordan Keysor and Zack Rudman helped continue the shutout in relief in game two.

Skidmore took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth against Saint starter Sean Voss as Jake Mendell was hit by a pitch and went to second when Spencer Marcus' sacrifice bunt was misplayed for an error. Brian Lowry reached on a fielder's choice, erasing Marcus and Rudman singled to left to score Mendell. Anthony Ferri, who was three-for-three in the game, then singled home Lowry.

The Saints threatened in the sixth and had the bases loaded with two outs, but Keysor came on and struck out Robert Carman to end the inning. Skidmore added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth as Rudman reached on a fielder's choice, advanced on Ferri's single and scored on Adam Cornachione's sacrifice fly.

Rudman gave up a walk and a single in the top of the seventh, but closed the game when pinch hitter Ryan Fedo lined out to second
