Canton, N.Y. --The Skidmore College baseball team shook off a 3-1 first game loss to beat St. Lawrence 10-3 in the second at SLU's Tom Fay Field Sunday afternoon.

Skidmore improves to 18-6 overall and 7-3 in Liberty League play heading into a pair of seven-inning games at Tom Fay Field Monday. St. Lawrence is now 13-11 overall and 8-6 in league play.

In game one, Jeff Cook won his third straight to improve to 4-1 on the season, checking the Thoroughbreds on two hits with two walks and six strikeouts.

Skidmore took the early lead in the game in the top of the third as Spencer Marcus walked, was sacrificed to second and scored on Jake Mendell's single to center. The Saints came right back to tie it in the bottom of the same inning as Bryan Brennan walked with two out, moved to second when Carter Franz drew a walk and scored on Ryan Duff's single to center.

The Saints took the lead in the bottom of the fifth, pounding the ball down the third base line against Skidmore starter Trevor Brucato, who sustained his first loss after a 2-0 start. Pat Considine hit a hard shot down the line to open the inning, which deflected into foul territory off third baseman Adam Cornachione's glove. Considine tried for two on the play and was thrown out at second, but the Saints came through with another two out rally. Bryan Brennan doubled down the left field line and Carter Franz singled down the line past a diving Cornachione to score Brennan. Duff then hit another hard shot right down the foul line for a double to plate Franz and give the Saints a 3-1 lead.

Cook put the Thoroughbreds away in order in the sixth and gave up a two out single to Cornachione in the seventh before getting Marcus on a strikeout to end the game.

In the second game, run-scoring singles by Brian Lowry, Matt Pisani, Leejay Pollacchi and Spencer Marcus and a Saint error contributed to the five run first and the Thoroughbreds made it a 6-0 game in the top of the third when Pollacchi walked, stole second and third and scored on Marcus' double.

The Saints got one back off Skidmore starter and winner Derek Stork in the bottom of the third when senior Ryan Duff homered to left, but Skidmore picked up a run in the top of the fourth on an outfield error to make it a 7-1 lead.

SLU scored two in the bottom of the fifth, but Skidmore put the game away with a run in the top of the seventh on Marcus' homer to right and added two in the top of the ninth on an error and Rob Rubenstein's two-run single.

Stork improved to 4-2 on the season with 5.2 innings of work while freshman Jordan Keysor was sharp in relief, limiting the Saints to one hit and striking out six to complete the game. Zach Slater took the loss for the Saints with relief help from Kyle Donaldson and Paul Piatelli.
