Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – Molly Canavan and Abby Fuhrman each tossed no-hitters as the Skidmore softball team rolled to a 27-0, 11-0 sweep of NYC Tech on Saturday afternoon at Thoroughbred Field.

 

The Thoroughbreds improve to 14-8, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 0-14.

 

Game One:

 

Skidmore put up 10 runs in the first inning and 13 in the second inning, putting up 19 hits as they cruised to a 27-0 victory in the opener. Canavan (Blue Bell, Pa.) struck out eight and walked two in five innings to improve to 2-0 with her no-hit effort.

 

10 different players scored a run for the Thoroughbreds and nine different batters drove in a run and had a base-hit. Freshman Cora Crafts (Gilford, N.H.) finished 3-for-4, driving in a game-high five runs and senior Arielle Manstein (Elkins Park, Pa.) went 4-for-5 with two RBI and four runs scored. Carol Brown (Seattle, Wash.) scored five times for Skidmore.

 

Game Two:

 

Fuhrman (Amherst, Mass.) tossed the Thoroughbreds' second no-hitter of the day, allowing just one base runner while striking out six batters in five innings of work as Skidmore took the nightcap 11-0.

 

Freshman Julia Schwartz (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) drove in three runs and Michelle Anderson (Alfred, N.Y.) and Charlotte Evans (Pawling, N.Y.) each drove in two to lead the offensive attack. Anderson and Brown each had two hits for the Thoroughbreds.

 

Skidmore returns to action on Tuesday, April 13 at Green Mountain.
