Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- Skidmore junior Trevor Brucato tossed a no-hitter to lead the Thoroughbreds to a 1-0 first game win over St. Michael's College, Saturday at Castle Diamond. Skidmore completed the sweep with a 4-1 win in the second game.

Skidmore is 15-5, while the Purple Knights fall to 3-17-1.

Brucato mowed down the first 12 batters before Tony Bonvechio reached on an infield error. Later in the inning he allowed his only walk of the game, before settling down to retire the final seven batters. He finished with nine strikeouts, allowing only two balls out of the infield.

For the season, Brucato is now 2-0 with a 0.90 ERA in 30 innings.

Skidmore's pitching staff is ranked in the top-10 nationally in NCAA Division III ERA (7th, 3.08), hits (3rd, 7.14), and walks (5th, 2.38).

The Thoroughbreds won the game in the bottom of the seventh, when Brian Lowery slammed a one-out double, stole third, and then scored on a Spencer Marcus two-out single.

Austin Ziskie took the loss, allowing one run on five hits with no walks and 10 strikeouts.

In the second game, Matt Pisani had a two-run single in the fourth to give the Thoroughbreds a 2-0 lead. Skidmore made it 4-0 in the sixth when Zack Rudman reached on an error and later scored on an RBI single by Zach Brown. Brian Lowry stole home for the fourth run.

The Purple Knights got one back in the seventh with a two-out home run by Chad Estey. Estey was 2-3 with a double.

Derek Stork moved to 3-2, allowing no runs in six innings, with one walk and five strikeouts. Andrew Kelley took the loss for St. Michael's.

Skidmore travels to New Paltz for a single game on Sunday.
