TROY, N.Y. – The 17th-ranked Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) baseball team

Skidmore scored a run in the first inning of each game, but did not hold
a lead for long in either contest. Game one saw the Red Hawks score

single in the fourth for a 4-1 advantage.

In game two, RPI answered a first inning run from the Thoroughbreds with
two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. The Red Hawks made it a 6-1 game in the third, scoring four times on four hits. Jebb capped off the scoring with a two-run double to right.

After Thoroughbreds came back with an unearned run in the top of the fifth
RPI blew the game open in the bottom half of the frame, scoring six times
for a 14-2 lead.

Skidmore got one more back in the seventh on an RBI-single off the bat of
senior Justin Morelli (East Setauket, NY/Ward Melville), but the Red
Hawks answered with a four-run eighth.

Thoroughbreds junior Jake Mendell (St. George, VT/Champlain Valley) finished 3 for 4 with a run
scored and two stolen bases.

Both clubs are back in action this Friday when they take part in the
