Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – The 20th ranked Skidmore College men's tennis team suffered an 8-1 loss to sixth-ranked Amherst College Saturday afternoon in Saratoga.
The loss is the first of the season for the Thoroughbreds, who are 11-1. Amherst improves to 15-1.
Skidmore's win came from the number three singles spot, where sophomore Lorenzo Cabrera (Daly City, CA) earned a 6-1, 6-3 straight-set victory over Amherst's Moritz Koenig.
Sophomore Yahia Imam (Cairo, Egypt) and freshman Luke Granger (Allendale, NJ) played well at number three singles but came up short, 8-6, against Wesley Waterman and Andrew Jung.
Amherst's Zack Lerner led the Lord Jeffs with wins at both number one singles (6-4, 6-4) and number one doubles (8-4).
The Thoroughbreds play their next match at Middlebury on April 4 at 11 a.m.
