CLINTON, N.Y. --
Anthony Ferri had three hits, scored four runs and drove in four to lead visiting Skidmore College to a 20-9 non-conference win against Hamilton College in a baseball game played at Royce Field.
Ferri singled, doubled and homered for the Thoroughbreds (7-9 overall), who banged out a total of 22 hits, and took advantage of five walks and six wild pitches by six Hamilton pitchers.
Adam Cornachione chipped in three hits, three runs and three RBI.
Brian Lowry '12 went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI.
Mike Jaffe '10 went 3-for-4 and
Justin Morelli '09 collected three hits and plated two runs.
Rob Rubenstein '11 smacked two doubles.
Wes Mayberry '11 doubled and homered twice for Hamilton (8-7).
The Continentals scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and added another run in the second for a 4-0 lead. Skidmore roared back with seven runs in the third inning to take the lead for good.
The rally started with one out when
Jeremy Goldman reached on an infield error. Rubenstein followed with a double and Ferri drove both of them in with another double. Jaffe singled and Cornachione singled off the pitcher's glove after the pitcher jumped to attempt to snare Cornachione's high chopper as Ferri scored. Jaffe came around from second base after an errant pickoff throw to first sailed out of play.
Matt Pisani followed with a two-run homer to right field. Lowry singled with the bases empty and moved to third on a single by Morelli. Lowry scored when he and Morelli executed a double steal.
After Hamilton responded with a run in its half of the third, the Thoroughbreds exploded for five more in the fourth inning for a 12-5 advantage. Skidmore scored at least one run in each of the last seven innings.
Skidmore's
Zack Rudman entered the game in the fourth, pitched three innings and got the win. Hamilton starter Jake Saidman pitched into the fourth inning and was saddled with his first loss in four decisions.
