Saratoga Springs, N.Y.— St. Lawrence had five players in double figures in a 102-84 Liberty League men's basketball win over Skidmore College Friday night at the Sports and Recreation Center. The Saints have won four straight to go 8-3 overall and 1-0 in Liberty play. Skidmore is 5-8 and 0-2.
The high-scoring contest featured a combined 22 three-point field goals with SLU hitting 10 of 20, including 8 of 13 in the first half.
The teams traded the lead four times in the first half, before the Saints closed the period with 16-7 run over the final 5:14 to take a 54-44 lead into the locker room.
SLU continued its hot shooting in the second half, nailing 18 of 30 field goal attempts (60.0) to keep Skidmore no closer the five points.
Jeff Altimar (Medfield, Mass.) led the Thoroughbreds with 17 points, including five threes.
Jon Douglas (Shutesbury, Mass.) added 14 points and
Terron Victoria (Albany, N.Y./Bishop Maginn) tossed in 13 points and had three steals off the bench.
Gerard O'Shea (West Sand Lake, N.Y./Averill Park) had a game-high seven assists and four steals.
Bela Vonnak (Canajoharie, N.Y./Canajoharie) scored 24 points for the Saints. Richard Williams (Kingston, N.Y.) had a double/double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Terry Parham (Petersburg, Virg.) contributed 20 points off the bench.
Skidmore will host Clarkson on Saturday at 4 p.m.
