Softball fights off College of St. Joseph

Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – The Skidmore College softball team improved to 9-17 on the season with two non-conference wins over the College of St. Joseph (VT), 7-6, 8-2, Thursday evening in Saratoga Springs.  The Fighting Saints fall to 7-3 with the losses.
 
In game one, senior Megan Braucher (Ramsey, N.J.) hit a RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh to score Lauren Dinsdale (Harrington Park, N.J.), that broke a 6-6 tie put the Thoroughbreds on top, 7-6. 
 
Freshman Charlotte Evans (Pawling, N.Y.) was 2-4 with two runs batted in, while senior Sasha Diamond-Lenow (Wayland, Mass.) was 3-4 at the plate and chipped in an RBI for Skidmore.
 
Dinsdale and Sarah Stehouwer (Woodstock, Vt.) combine for 12 strikeouts in the game, with Stehouwer taking the win, after throwing four innings of work and surrendering only two earned runs.
 
Lory Lansburg (Amsterdam, N.Y.) was 2-4 with two runs scored to lead the Fighting Saints.
 
Dinsdale cracked her sixth homerun of the season in the nightcap, leading the Thoroughbreds to an 8-2 victory in game two. 
 
Diamond-Lenow and Stehouwer both finished 2-4 at the plate with an RBI a piece, with Stehouwer going seven strong on the mound for her second win of the day for Skidmore.
 
The Thoroughbreds continue Liberty League action Saturday, April 19, when they host a doubleheader with Union College at 1 pm.
