FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Skidmore College baseball team split a doubleheader with Rockford University Monday at Terry Park. The Thoroughbreds dropped a back-and-forth opener, 12-11, before responding with an 8-4 victory in the second game to hand Rockford its first loss of the year.

Game 1 – Rockford 12, Skidmore 11
- Skidmore (3-1) scored five runs in the first inning but Rockford rallied late to take the opener.
- The Thoroughbreds jumped ahead early with five runs in the bottom of the first to build a quick 5-0 lead. Three early Rockford errors led to the first run on an Eddie Galvao RBI ground out before a two-run Mac Cady single, an Adam Copeland run-scoring double before a double-steal of home with him and Holden Caney going to second.
- Rockford (5-1) responded with three runs in the third inning and two more in the fourth to tie it up.
- Skidmore added three runs in the fourth inning and another three in the fifth to regain the lead. A Luke Warzynski infield single with the bases loaded scored all three runners on an overthrow in the fourth.
- Skidmore then loaded the bases again in the fifth before Schwartzman walked to score one and then Galvao and Quinn McDonald both hit sacrifice flies.
- Rockford's offense surged late, highlighted by a four-run sixth inning before adding two more runs in the seventh to secure the comeback win. Trent Lawrence hit a grand slam in the sixth to pull the Regents to within a run.
- In the top of the seventh, Blaise Mace tied it with a one-out single to score a run. Three batters later, Marcus Taylor, who hit a solo homer earlier, brough in the eventual winning run on a single to left-center.
- Sam Dalsimer entered for Skidmore on the mound and left the bases loaded, but the Thoroughbreds stranded the tying run in scoring position in the bottom half of the seventh.
- Matthew O'Neill and Caney were both 2-for-3 with a double and a walk for Skidmore.

Game 2 – Skidmore 8, Rockford 4
- Skidmore responded in the nightcap with an 8-4 victory behind an 11-hit offensive effort.
- The Thoroughbreds scored four of their runs in the second. Cady singled and later scored on a Jack Collins knock through the middle. Nate Vandersea made it 2-0 on a single the other way that scored Collins before Tyler Holm pulled off a squeeze play to score another run. O'Neill brought in Skidmore's fourth run of the frame right after on a sacrifice fly.
- Skidmore added a run in the fourth inning and another in the sixth on another Vandersea RBI single before scoring twice in the seventh to extend the lead.
- Vandersea led the offense with a 3-for-3 performance, scoring once and driving in two runs.
- Galvao added two hits including a double, while Cady and Collins each finished with two hits and an RBI.
- Grayden Harris earned the win after allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits over 4.2 innings. He worked around six walks.
- Will Markwood closed the game with 2.1 innings of relief to record the save.
