HARTFORD, CT – The No. 18 Skidmore College men's lacrosse team's undefeated start to the 2026 season came to an end with a low-scoring 8-4 road loss at Trinity (CT) on Wednesday afternoon.
In a defensive battle, the Thoroughbreds (7-1) put 21 shots on goal but were unable to consistently find the back of the net, as the Bantams (5-3) received a standout 17-save performance from their goalkeeper while Skidmore also went 0-for-4 on man-up opportunities.
Sophomore
Marc Gadbois stepped up with 14 saves of his own, anchoring a Skidmore defense that forced 24 turnovers and limited Trinity to 17-of-22 on clear attempts to keep the game within reach.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the Bantams struck first in the opening minutes, freshman Joseph Killcommons answered with a solo goal at the 11:16 mark to even the score in the first quarter.
- Neither side broke through again until the final seconds of the period, when Trinity found the back of the net with just nine seconds remaining to take a 2-1 lead into the second.
- The Bantams seized control in the second quarter, scoring all three goals in the frame to extend the lead to 5-1 at halftime.
- Out of the break, Skidmore got on the board first as freshman Conor Geier delivered a solo goal at the 9:50 mark to cut the deficit to 5-2.
- Trinity responded by closing the quarter with two unanswered goals, including a man-down score in the final minute, to push the lead to 7-2 heading into the fourth.
- In the final period, Killcommons struck just 33 seconds in off an assist from Geier, but Trinity answered with a man-up goal at 7:05 to keep the margin at five.
- Freshman Ollie Rice added Skidmore's final goal with a solo effort at the 5:02 mark.
STANDOUT THOROUGHBREDS
- Killcommons led the team with two goals.
- Geier finished with one goal, one assist and two caused turnovers.

The Thoroughbreds look to bounce back on Saturday by hosting No. 7 RIT in a national top-20 matchup at Wachenheim Field. The game is set for a noon start.
