SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's hockey team pushed No. 1 Hobart to the brink, but a late Adam Ondris goal gave the Statesmen a 1-0 win on Saturday afternoon.
- An icing call with 4:36 remaining in regulation forced a Skidmore timeout. On the ensuing faceoff, Arvega Hovsepyan won the draw back to the point, where Josh Doolan's shot was blocked in front. Hovsepyan kicked the rebound to Ondris, who finished with a backhander for the game's only goal.
- Skidmore pressed for the equalizer late, recording seven shot attempts in the final minutes. Tyler Chenevert broke in down the right wing, but his wrist shot was stopped by Mavrick Goyer with 2:30 remaining, marking the Thoroughbreds' final shot on goal.
- Hobart improved to 18-0 overall and 11-0 in SUNYAC play. The three-time defending national champions extended their unbeaten streak to 31 games, with Saturday's contest marking their only 1–0 victory during the run. It was also the first time since Jan. 13, 2024, that the Statesmen were held to one goal or fewer.
- Skidmore is 7-9-2 and 4-6-1.
- The Thoroughbreds pushed the pace early and earned two first-period power plays, then added two more extra-man chances in the third period, along with a late empty-net attempt. Hobart was scoreless on its lone power play late in the second.
- Hobart came up empty in its lone power play at the end of the second period.
- Hobart held an 11–9 edge in shots during a tightly contested opening period, while Skidmore goaltender Kyle Ozgun kept the game scoreless with 12 saves in the second. Ozgun finished with 32 saves.
- Skidmore also blocked 21 shots. Jacob Zwirecki and Nick Troutwine had three apiece.
- Oscar Worob nearly broke the deadlock early in the third for Skidmore, ringing a wrist shot off the crossbar from the slot. Hobart also hit the post once early and twice after taking the lead.
- The Statesmen finished with a 33–20 advantage in shots on goal, while Skidmore won the faceoff battle, 34–25. Coleman Jenkins led the Thoroughbreds with 12 faceoff wins.
