Skidmore falls 3-2 in OT to Canton

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – SUNY Canton scored 46 seconds into overtime to hand the Skidmore College men's hockey team a 3-2 setback on Saturday afternoon.
  • Skidmore (7-7-2, 4-4-1 SUNYAC) outshot the Kangaroos 31-25, but SUNY Canton (7-9, 3-6) converted the game's lone power-play goal and got the overtime winner to earn the road victory.
  • Logan Kelly opened the scoring with a power-play goal at 2:57 of the second period, assisted by Evan Pringle and Raine Hodge.
  • Skidmore answered late in the second when Bryson Russell tied the game with 2:17 left in the period, finishing a feed from Colton Mauser. It was Russell's first-career goal and third point of the season.
  • The Thoroughbreds took their first lead early in the third as Cooper Rice scored on a bomb under the bar at 2:03, assisted by Ryan Waltman and Mitchell Floccare. Rice's seventh goal of the tear leads the team by three.
  • SUNY Canton pulled even at 8:28 of the third on a goal from Jackson Drysdale, with Brayden Fryfogle earning the assist.
  • Niko Schoner scored the game-winner at 0:46 of overtime, assisted by Reilly McKinnon and Spencer Sasenbury.
  • In goal, Trey Miller made 29 saves for SUNY Canton to earn the win, while Joshua Seeley stopped 22 shots for Skidmore in the loss.
  • The Kangaroos went 1-for-4 on the power play, while Skidmore finished 0-for-3.
  • Skidmore went 40-32 in the faceoff circle. Oscar Worob led with 16 wins.
