SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College volleyball team opened the 2025 Skidmore Classic with a decisive 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-18) victory over Nichols College on Friday evening at Williamson Sports Center. The Thoroughbreds (2-2) hit .239 as a team and delivered 12 service aces in their home debut.
- First-year Chloe Heitman led the attack with 10 kills. Heitman hit .333 with six digs and two blocks.
- Senior Jazlin Chen hit .500, finishing with seven kills, and added four blocks.
- Classmate Angie Mozrall added seven kills on .500 hitting, and first-year Katy O'Connell chipped in five kills along with three aces.
- Junior Catriona Hoelperl sparked runs from the service line with a team-high five aces, while sophomore libero Marlowe McIntyre and junior Madison Manning each contributed one.
- Hoelperl and junior Emma Ferrigno combined for 22 of Skidmore's 31 assists to guide the offense.
- McIntyre anchored the back row with 10 digs, while Hoelperl and Ferrigno each finished with six.
- The Thoroughbreds out-blocked Nichols (2-2) 6-3 and forced 22 attack errors, holding the Bison to a -.024 hitting percentage.
- Skidmore used a 6-1 scoring run in the middle of the first set to open a 16-12 lead. Soon after, a quick 4-1 Thoroughbred burst made it 22-15 and Skidmore pushed the win across thanks to three Nichols errors.
- The Bison erased a four-point deficit with a 7-1 run to tie the second set at 18, but two Heitman kills and an O'Connell ace restored momentum. Skidmore closed on a 4-1 run, capped by a Mozrall kill.
- Skidmore built an early eight-point margin in the third, but Nichols again applied some pressure with one more run scoring 7-of-8 pulling to within two. The Thoroughbreds responded promptly with a 7-2 run of its own on the way to closing out the sweep. It ended again on a Mozrall kill.
- Alyssa Morse led the way for the visitors with eight kills and three digs. Â
