ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Skidmore College volleyball team rolled to a sweep (25-18, 25-18, 25-13) on the road at RIT on Saturday afternoon.
- The victory gives Skidmore a weekend split to open Liberty League play. The Thoroughbreds are 7-7 overall.
- RIT is 5-8 and 0-2.
- Maya Stolarz led all players with 13 kills on 29 swings and a .379 attack percentage.
- Natalie Pedersen finished with six kills without an error on 12 attacks for an even .500 percentage.
- Marlowe McIntyre had a team-high 15 digs to go along with a pair of aces.
- Chloe Heitman also had two aces with 13 digs and four kills.
- Katy O'Connell tallied five kills, while Jazlin Chen had three blocks, two solo, and. Two digs.
- Catriona Hoelperl registered 19 assists.
- Overall, Skidmore hit .230 as a team while limiting RIT to .019 with percentages at zero or below in two out of the three sets.
- Mia Gerber led the hosts with seven kills, three digs, and a block.
- Skidmore raced to an early lead in the first and later pulled away with a 5-0 spurt to make it 18-12. RIT scored the next two before the Thoroughbreds rolled off six unanswered to get to set point.
- Skidmore also led throughout in the second game. The Tigers scored 4-of-5 to close the deficit to two at 15-13. A Solarz kill followed by three consecutive RIT errors expanded the lead to six. Skidmore closed the set by scoring six out of the final seven points.
- The third set, despite finishing with the largest margin, consisted of RIT's only lead of the afternoon. It lasted for only one point as the Thoroughbreds rolled off 10 in a row highlighted by four straight Stolarz kills to take the commanding lead on the way to the sweep.
