SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College volleyball team lost in four sets (22-25, 25-23, 23-25, 24-26) on Saturday afternoon against Union as sophomore
Natalie Pedersen rolled off a career-best 21 kills.
- The match, tight virtually the entire way, featured 39 tie scores and 20 lead changes.
- Skidmore led 23-18 in the fourth set, looking to push the match to the fifth, when the Garnet Chargers rattled off six in a row on the strength of three Maddie McCarron kills, two blocks, and an ace.
- Skidmore (7-8, 1-2 Liberty League) fought off one match point, but the visitors grabbed the final two points to clinch it.
- For Pedersen, her performance marked the first time since 2017 (Caite Canfield) that a Skidmore player finished with 20 or more kills in a four-set match.
- Two other Thoroughbreds finished with double-digit kills. Jazlin Chen had 13, while Maya Stolarz tallied 11. Both had two blocks.
- Catriona Hoelperl also had a career high, finishing with 49 assists, with 12 digs, four kills, and four aces.
- Marlowe McIntyre had 23 digs, three assists, and a pair of aces.
- Athena Braverman led all players with five aces.

- Union setter Allie Kronenberg had 41 assists, while Georgie Pool finished with 22 digs.
- The Garnet Chargers started the first set on a 6-1 lead and never trailed. Skidmore, though, made it close towards the end of the set pulling to within two before a McCarron kills put it away.
- The 12th tie of the second set was broke at 20-all in favor of Skidmore. Back-to-back Hoelperl aces made it 23-20. Stolarz blasted a kill on set point number three to even the match at one aside.
- There were also 12 ties in the third set. Tied at 22, consecutive kills by McCarron and Kronenberg gave the visitors set point, and they took the pivotal 2-1 lead two points later.
- Neither team led by more than two in the fourth frame before Skidmore scored five unanswered for the five-point lead.
