SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College field hockey team held nationally top-ranked Middlebury to two goals in the second half and kept the Panthers off the board in the fourth quarter in a 6-0 setback Tuesday afternoon at Wagner Park.
- Middlebury (6-0) scored two goals in each of the first three quarters, with five different players finding the back of the cage and five Panthers collecting assists.
- Emma McCann led the attack with two goals, while Grace Keefe added a goal and an assist.
- After a scoreless stretch to open the game, McCann converted on a penalty corner to break the deadlock. Keefe doubled the advantage with 2:07 remaining in the first quarter on a penalty stroke.
- Skidmore (4-4) turned away multiple opportunities in the opening frame with three defensive saves—two by Brooke Golden and one from Auriel Gonzalez.
- Addie Chandler and Hadley Crowther struck early in the second quarter to push the lead to 4-0.
- The Thoroughbreds generated their best scoring chance midway through the second when Emma Houff broke free on a breakaway. Her initial shot was denied by the diving goalkeeper, and the rebound attempt went just wide.
- At halftime, Middlebury held a 14-2 advantage in shots.
- The Panthers tallied twice in the third, with McCann's second of the day in the 32nd minute and Claire McMichael's tally with 6:31 left.
- Allison Morgan made five saves over the first three quarters, while Lily Mae Dreyfuss stopped the lone shot she faced in the fourth.
- Middlebury goalkeepers Izzy Redzic, Madeline DiLemme, and Theas Rosenzweigh combined for the shutout.
- The Panthers finished with an 11-0 edge in penalty corners.
