SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — The Skidmore field hockey team fell to SUNY New Paltz, 1–0, on a tip-in with 7:06 left in the second overtime Wednesday afternoon at Wagner Park. The Thoroughbreds (2–2) outshot the Hawks (2–2) 18–15 but couldn't break through in their home opener.
- After 72 scoreless minutes, New Paltz's Ashley McGough finished at 72:54 on a tip off a Rachel Tama shot following a late penalty-corner sequence for the winner.
- Skidmore carried long stretches of play, generating a 9–8 edge in shots on goal and a sizable penalty-corner advantage, including a 4-0 margin in the fourth quarter.
- Junior goalkeeper Nicole Sylvestri made six saves, and Brooke Golden recorded a third-quarter defensive save to keep it level through regulation.
- Erin Ohlenbusch paced the Thoroughbreds with six shots (three on frame); Ella Costa added three attempts, while seven others registered shots in a balanced attack.
- New Paltz's Gail Comiskey stopped eight, aided by a third-quarter defensive save from Gabriella Barth.
- Skidmore had a handful of scoring chances, including breakaways from Costa and Molly Van Vranken. Comiskey came out to cut the ball off on a slide both times before a shot could be taken.
