WATERVILLE, Maine — The Skidmore College field hockey team opened the 2025 campaign with a 2–1 road win at Thomas (Maine) on Friday afternoon at Bernatchez Field. Seniors
Mia Angwin and
Abby Ezickson scored in the second half, while
Allison Morgan made six saves in the cage in her collegiate debut.
- After a scoreless first half, Angwin broke through at 33:10, finishing off a penalty-corner sequence. Off the insert from Ella Costa, the ball was played across the circle where Angwin stepped into a clean strike from the top right side, driving a low shot inside the left post for Skidmore's first tally of the season.
- The Terriers equalized 1:44 later on a Leah Knight strike from Kara Richards at 34:54.
- Ezickson delivered the game-winner at 50:09, also capitalizing on a corner. Following sustained pressure and multiple rebounds, Erin Ohlenbusch pushed a pass into the arc where Ezickson collected, spun away from a defender, and swept a shot through the legs of the goalkeeper and into the back of the cage.
- Morgan turned aside six of seven shots faced, including two in both the first and third quarters, to preserve the one-goal advantage. Thomas keeper Mackenzie Toner made six saves.
- The Thoroughbreds generated consistent pressure, outshooting Thomas 14–9 (8–7 SOG) and earning a 9–5 edge in penalty corners.
- Ohlenbusch paced the attack with five shots; Angwin added three, and Colby Paul put two on target.
