No. 41 Skidmore beats Union 6-1 to finish regular season, head to postseason, with momentum

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's tennis team defeated host Union College on Sunday afternoon, 6-1, in the final match of the regular season.
  • The nationally 41st-ranked Thoroughbreds are off to next weekend's conference tournament as the four see after finishing in a tie for third with RIT and Vassar.
  • Skidmore finishes the regular season with a 10-8 overall record and 5-3 mark in the Liberty League.
  • The Thoroughbreds claimed the doubles point with triumphs at No. 2 and No. 1 before the Garnet Chargers took the superfluous third match.
  • Fletcher King and Nika Mori won 6-3 over Bellemare/Prusko at No. 2, and Griffin Biernat and Yuval Goodman took down Jacobs/Sosa minutes later.
  • The Thoroughbreds clinched the win with five-straight singles victories.
  • Adel Aissaoui dropped only two games in his 6-1, 6-1 straight-set win at No. 6.
  • Then, Goodman won his second bout of the afternoon in the top match 6-2, 6-3.
  • Biernat won the clincher 6-3, 6-4 in second singles.
  • Kyle Lundberg (6-4, 6-1), and Mori (3-6, 6-3, 10-7) took care of their matches after the outcome was determined.
  • Skidmore extends its streak with its 38th-consecutive victory over Union. Union last won over Skidmore in the spring of 1985.
