Skidmore falls to NESCAC-leading Middlebury in series opener

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College baseball team fell to Middlebury 13-3 in a non-league matchup at Castle Diamond in the first of three with the Panthers this weekend.
  • Middlebury (20-10) scored six runs in the third inning and three more in the fourth to break the game open.
  • Skidmore (18-13-2) totaled eight hits, including home runs by Eddie Galvao and Trey Bourque.
  • Galvao finished 2-for-2 with a double, a home run, two RBIs and a walk.
  • Bourque went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk.
  • Starter Chase Siegel took the loss, allowing six earned runs over 2.1 innings. It was his first loss of the year after winning his first seven starts.
  • The Thoroughbreds used five pitchers in total in the game that went seven innings. Senior Peter Martin tossed an efficient 1-2-3 top of the sixth.
  • Middlebury's Kyle McCausland led all hitters, going 4-for-4 with two doubles, a home run, and two RBIs.
  • Panther leadoff hitter Aaron Han scored five times on a 3-for-3 afternoon with two walks.
