No. 47 Skidmore finishes home slate with 5-2 victory over Vassar on Senior Day

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's tennis team defeated visiting Vassar College, 5-2, on Friday afternoon in the team's home finale.
  • The Thoroughbreds, ranked 47th nationally, are 8-8 overall and 3-3 in the Liberty League with two matches left.
  • Vassar, ranked 69th, is 8-9 and 4-2 in a three-way tie for second.
  • Skidmore took the point in doubles when Fletcher King and Nika Mori broke a 1-1 tie at No. 2 with a 6-4 triumph over Agostinho/Cattaruzzi.
  • Harrison Gradin and Kyle Lundberg got the Thoroughbreds on the board after it beat Gil/Sondergaard Jensen 6-2 in the third match.
  • In singles, Mori made quick work of Braun at No. 3 in straight sets to put Skidmore up 2-0.
  • Vassar got in the board before Yuval Goodman claimed a three-sit win over Bauermeister (7-5, 2-6, 6-0) to put Skidmore within a point of clinching.
  • King got the clincher. He adjusted after a tough first set to win 0-6, 6-2, 6-4 over Agostinho.
  • Lundberg also won in three sets for good measure at No. 5 (4-6, 6-3, 6-2) after he fell in the first set.
  • After the match, Skidmore honored its two seniors: Griffin Biernat, William Goethlin.

  • The Thoroughbreds complete the regular season next weekend at Ithaca and Union.
