Siegel sparkles as Thoroughbreds open series against Union with victory

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Sophomore Chase Siegel gave the Thoroughbreds eight innings of two-run ball and two players went yard leading the Skidmore College baseball team to a series-opening 8-6 win over Union College on the road at Friday.
  • Skidmore (17-10-2, 9-1 LL East) scored the first eight runs of the game and held on despite a late Garnet Charger push for the win.
  • Landon Schwartzman and Andy Pelc both homered for Skidmore as the Thoroughbreds led 6-0 through five and 8-0 after two more in the sixth.
  • Siegel scattered eight hits over eight innings for his league-leading seventh win of the year. Only one of the two runs he allowed were earned. He struck out seven and did not issue a walk.

  • Sam Kornet, the Liberty League's leader in hits and RBI, was 3-for-4 with a walk, two RBI, double, and run.
  • Pelc drove in three on a 2-for-5 outing with a stolen base.
