LEESBURG, Fla. – The Skidmore College softball team improved its early record to 3-1 on Monday when it split its two games in Florida. Skidmore lost to Russell Sage 15-3 in five innings before coming back and beating Meredith, 9-8.

The schedule was rearranged due to weather in Central Florida. Skidmore was originally scheduled to play Catholic and Meredith earlier in the day.

Russell Sage 15, Skidmore 3 (5 inn.)
- Sage plated three in the first, one in the second, five in the third, and six in the fourth to earn the run-rule win over the Thoroughbreds.
- Skidmore scored its runs on a Mallory Allen RBI single in the second and a two-RBI single from Delaney Swain in the fifth.
- Ava Heffner and Amber Banas both drove in three runs with three hits each for the Gators.
- Sage had 15 base hits, but only two for extra bases.

Skidmore 9, Meredith 8
- Allen had two more hits including a bases-clearing, three-run triple in the bottom of the fifth inning to give Skidmore a 9-4 lead at the time.
- Meredith got three back in the sixth and another in the seventh, but the thoroughbreds were able to hold on, leaving the tying run on base on a pop out to end it.
- Sophia Finch was 2-for-3 with a triple and a double for Skidmore.
- Skidmore had three triples. Natalie Mayne hit the first of them in the bottom of the first to tie the game at one.
- Meredith booted the ball around a couple times leading to three more Skidmore runs by the end of the second inning.
- Nate' Burley drove in Finch, after her triple, to make it 5-1 in the third.
- Meredith put together five hits in the fourth to pull to within one.
- Ashbee Standridg was 4-for-5 for Meredith with three doubles.
- For Skidmore, Sam Waters scored a couple of bags.
- Allen, in addition to her contributions at the plate picked up the win by going the distance.

- Skidmore will enjoy a day off on Tuesday before games against New England College and Ursinus on Wednesday.
