Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Thoroughbreds 4-1 winners over Albertus Magnus in series opener

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's hockey team picked up a solid 4-1 victory over visiting Albertus Magnus College on Friday night.
  • The win, Skidmore's third in a row, bumps the squad to 10-10 overall on the season and 8-7 (24 points) in the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC).
  • Albertus Magnus, receiving votes on the most recent USCHO poll, drops to 11-8-1 and 8-6-1 for 23 points, one point behind Skidmore for fifth. Skidmore trails fourth-place Salve Regina by just two points.
  • Sophomores Cooper Rice and Mitchell Floccare scored goals just over three minutes apart in the second period to power Skidmore to a 3-1 lead.
  • After a lockdown third period defensively, Oscar Worob scored a shorthanded empty-net goal for the 4-1 final.
  • Jaden York got on the board for the Thoroughbreds with his first of the season at 7:29 of the first to give the home team the early lead. After Worob forced a turnover in the neutral zone, Zach Lindewirth carried the puck in and poked it to York for a short breakaway.
  • It remained 1-0 until the visitors tied it at one 49 seconds into the second period. Tim Manning scored his sixth of the year for the Falcons on a 3-on-3 rush through a screen. Zane Kindrachuk and Sam Anderson assisted.
  • Rice's sixth of the campaign served as the game winner at 6:05 of the middle frame. He didn't get all of the one-timer from just inside the right faceoff circle, but it was enough to sneak through the legs of the Albertus Magnus goalie. Evan Brown and Will Dow-Kenny had the assists.
  • Floccare provided the insurance on a coast-to-coast effort at 9:11 with a rare goalie assist from Joshua Seeley on the bump behind the net.
  • Skidmore kept the Falcons on their heels in the third, finishing with a 14-6 shot advantage, to get out of it without inflicting any more damage.
  • Bryson Russell assisted Worob's goal on a 2-on-1 with the Albertus Magnus net empty.
  • Shots finished 34-19 Skidmore.
  • Seeley. Turned aside 18 shots, six in each period.
  • Chace Hall had 30 saves for the Falcons.
  • Both teams were unsuccessful in one power play.
