SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — The Skidmore College field hockey team scored five times after halftime and finished with a 44–3 shots advantage in a 6–1 non-league win over Russell Sage on Wednesday at Wagner Park.
Mia Angwin and
Colby Paul had two goals apiece, while
Emma Houff and
Brooke Golden added tallies as the Thoroughbreds improved to 9–8.
- Angwin also assisted to lead seven Thoroughbreds with points in the game. She finished with five.
- After a scoreless first quarter, Houff opened the scoring 29 seconds into the second, tipping in a pass from Molly Van Vranken for a 1–0 lead at the break.
- Skidmore broke it open in the third. Paul finished a cross from Angwin at 32:15, then Angwin stuffed home a Houff rebound 49 seconds later to make it 3–0.
- Angwin struck again 2:25 into the fourth, redirecting an Ella Costa feed, and Paul added an unassisted marker at 50:07 for a 5–0 cushion.
- Catherine Newkirk put Sage (4-11) on the board at 51:52.
- Golden capped the day with six seconds remaining off a penalty corner, driving home a shot from a Gianna DiGioacchino's pass for the final 6–1 margin.
- Skidmore dominated the stat sheet with a 28–1 edge in shots on goal and a 19–2 advantage in penalty corners.
- Sage goalkeeper Olivia Brand finished with 22 saves.
- Three keepers appeared for Skidmore: starter Nicole Sylvestri (51:52); Allison Morgan (5:00) and Lily Mae Dreyfuss (3:08) shared the closing minutes.
