Thoroughbreds tripped up at NEC

HENNIKER, N.H. – The Skidmore College men's hockey team lost on the road at New England College, 3-1, on Friday night.
  • The hosts played most of the night up a goal until they doubled the lead early in the third period.
  • An empty-net marker with just over a minute and a half remaining made it 3-0 for the Pilgrims, before Evan Brown scored an unassisted goal on the power play in the closing seconds to account for Skidmore's goal.
  • Brown's seventh goal of the season is just one off the team lead as he extends his goal streak to four straight. He has five points over that span.
  • Skidmore's man-up goal was on the only power play for either team.
  • The Thoroughbreds finished ahead in shots, 38-31.
  • Joshua Seeley made 28 saves for Skidmore (7-9, 5-6 NEHC). His counterpart, Anthony Beaulieu, stopped 37-of-38 for the hosts.
  • David Novotny scored at 9:19 of the first period to put NEC (3-10-1, 2-6-1 NEHC) ahead. Skidmore finished the first with an 11-6 edge in shots.
  • Over 35 minutes of gameplay happened, all at 5-on-5, before Jack Herron doubled the NEC lead at 5:35 of the third.
  • Tyler Love scored on the empty net with 1:39 left before Brown's tally completed the scoring.
  • Skidmore had won the previous five meetings with long-time conference foe NEC.
