SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's volleyball team fell to Brandeis University in straight sets (6-26, 24-26, 12-25) in the opener of the Skidmore Classic on Friday evening.
 

• The closest set was the second, where the Thoroughbreds trailed by three, 23-20, before going on a 4-1 run on the strength of back-to-back Isobel Streeper aces to tie it at 24. The Judges converted twice to take a 2-0 set lead.
• Skidmore (0-5) hit .265 in the second hit to bounce back from the negative. The Thoroughbreds had 14 kills against just five errors in 34 second-set swings.
• Brandeis (4-1) hit .329 for the game. Anna Srtischek was the leader for the visitors with 12 kills. Lara Verstovsek finished with nine kills, a team-high nine digs, and a pair of blocks.
• Madison Manning and Jazlin Chen led the Thoroughbreds with five kills apiece. Angie Mozrall and Natalie Pedersen each finished with a pair of blocks.
• Catriona Hoelperl had nine assists. Emma Ferrigno finished with six.

NEXT UP: Skidmore will face off against a pair of SUNYAC foes on Saturday in Plattsburgh State (10 a.m.) and SUNY Cortland (4 p.m.).
