Skidmore a challenge for #22 Ithaca

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College volleyball team was a handful for visiting Ithaca College on Saturday afternoon despite losing in straight sets (22-25, 20-25, 15-25).
  • Skidmore slips to 5-11 and 0-2 in the Liberty League after the match.
  • With the weekend sweep, 22nd-ranked Ithaca is 9-2 and 2-0.
  • Angie Mozrall and Natalie Pedersen had six kills each to lead the way for Skidmore.
  • Athena Braverman matched her career high by recording 22 digs.
  • Jazlin Chen finished with six block assists and three kills. Rudi Reyes had four blocks and four kills.
  • Catriona Hoelperl tallied 14 assists, two kills, six digs and an ace, while Tiffany Flores had nine assists and five digs.
  • Faith Sabatier and Gabriella Gonzalez-Abreu led Ithaca with nine kills each.
  • As a team, Ithaca shot .154, while Skidmore finished with a .081 team swing percentage.
  • Skidmore ran out to a huge lead in the first, scoring nine out of the match's first 10 points and later had leads of 11-3, 12-4, and 14-6.
  • Ithaca inched back before a 10-1 outburst gave it a 21-18 lead. Back-to-back Skidmore points made it a one-point game, 21-20. Ithaca then had three kills from two different players to reach set point and clinched it two points later.
  • The Thoroughbreds also led early in the second set. The Bombers built a five-point lead in the middle of the game, but Skidmore answered promptly with five unanswered points to tie it at 16. The run features four Ithaca attack errors and a Pedersen kill.
  • Ithaca scored 4-of-5 to be the first team to 20 and later got three in a row to make it 24-19 and won the set two points later.
  • The visitors used an 8-1 run in the third to build a 15-8 lead and was able to hold it the rest of the way.
