SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Skidmore College volleyball team completed the Russell Sage-Union Crosstown Challenge 2-1 after splitting its two matches on Saturday. The Thoroughbreds fell to New Paltz in four sets (19-25, 25-10, 18-25, 21-25) before sweeping Oneonta (25-17, 25-23, 25-15).

New Paltz 3, Skidmore 1
- Jazlin Chen did not make an error in 19 swings. She finished with an inflated .579 swing percentage with 11 kills.
- Madison Manning had eight kills and six digs.
- Catriona Hoelperl registered 19 assists, four aces, and three digs.
- Athena Braverman had 13 digs.
- New Paltz was led by Letisha Perez with 10 kills along with the match's only solo block. She had five total blocks and a pair of digs.
- Skidmore crawled out of a 21-9 hole in the first and got to within five, 23-18, before the Hawks put it away.
- The Thoroughbreds jumped out to the lead in the second and used seven unanswered to lead 21-9.
- It went the other way in the third. New Paltz led by one, 16-15, before rolling off six in a row.
- Skidmore faced a 12-4 deficit in the fourth. The Thoroughbreds scored seven unanswered as part of an 11-1 run to take a 16-14 lead. Later, New Paltz scored four straight aided by three Skidmore attack errors to flip a one-point deficit into a three-point lead.
- Skidmore stopped the damage on the next point before New Paltz got the next three to get to match point. The Thoroughbreds kept it going for two points longer before New Paltz ended it capped by a Perez kill.

Skidmore 3, Oneonta 0
- Skidmore hit .204 as a squad, including a .313 mark in the first set.
- Rudi Reyes hit .538 with nine kills on 13 swings and just two errors.
- Manning posted a team high 12 kills with four digs and an ace.
- Hoelperl finished with 31 assists and three kills, six digs, and three aces.
- Braverman tallied 16 digs.
- Phoebe Yang had eight digs and three aces.
- Katie Spano led the Red Dragons with six kills and two solo blocks.
- Skidmore led by two in the first, 16-14, before scoring seven unanswered points. Hoelperl had two kills during the stretch.
- The second set was back-and-forth throughout. Oneonta led, 23-21, when Skidmore came out and got the last four points of the set to come back and win. Hoelperl again led the charge with two aces.
- The Thoroughbreds led comfortably for most of the third set, the lead as big as 11 before finishing at 10.
- Skidmore has now won two in a row over Oneonta after the teams had split the last seven matches in the head-to-head series. Skidmore leads the series, 14-11, dating back to 2002.

Skidmore will travel to Cobleskill next Saturday, Sept. 21 for a tri-match with host SUNY Cobleskill and Keuka College.
