Tate Brandon earns CSC Academic All-America® honor

AUSTIN, Texas – Skidmore College men's ice hockey standout goalie Tate Brandon was named to the 2024 Division III Academic All-America® At-Large Second Team as selected by College Sports Communicators and announced July 17.

There were 45 NCAA Division III student-athletes honored out of the thousands that play the 22 different sports under the "At-Large" umbrella. Of which, only four were men's ice hockey players.

Brandon is Skidmore's third men's ice hockey Academic All-America® and 26th overall. Tony Giacin was the program's first in 2014. Austin Rook followed in 2022.

Brandon graduated in May with a 3.89 GPA as a management and business major.

One of three New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) honorees, Brandon received American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-America Third Team East Honors as a senior and was also the NEHC Goaltender of the Year and All-NEHC First Team honoree. He led the team to the NEHC title game twice in his illustrious three seasons as the starting Skidmore netminder. The most decorated goaltender in Skidmore history rewrote the program's record book. He is at the top of the list in wins (41), shutouts (9), goals-against average (2.17), and save percentage (.927).

At Skidmore's Sports Recognition Night, Brandon brought home the Male Senior Athlete Award, the Tim Brown Scholar Award, and was named the team's MVP. During his time at Skidmore, he was also named an AHCA All-American Scholar, and appeared multiple times on the NEHC All-Academic Team and Thoroughbred Society.

The Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Division III Academic All-America® program.
