MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Skidmore College baseball team concluded its regular season schedule with a game at Middlebury College, where the Thoroughbreds dropped an extra inning, non-league affair 4-3.
- Following three scoreless innings, Skidmore broke out on top with a pair of runs in the fourth.
- Second baseman Nick Duryea and left fielder Ewen Donald both walked to open the inning before Brad Garrity reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases with no outs.
- A Grayden Harris single through the right side plated the first run and a Peter Martin fielder's choice scored the second.
- Garrity walked in the sixth and came around with an unearned run to make it 3-0.
- A pair of walks, two stolen bases, and three errors helped the Panthers pull even in their half of the inning.
- Both teams threatened in the ninth inning, including a bases loaded situation for Skidmore.
- Middlebury ended the game in the 11th inning when senior Beau Root laced a double to the wall in right centerfield to score Gus Parker from first base. Parker was running on the pitch.
- The Thoroughbreds had six hits with Jaden Torrado, Zachary Leiderman, and Harris collecting two each.
- Seven pitchers combined to allow just six Panthers hits, five of which were singles.
- Donald took the loss and Middlebury's sixth pitcher, Kunal Handa, earned the win.
- The Thoroughbreds turned three double plays.
- Skidmore, which did not use a designated hitter, is now 18-14.
- The Panthers are 24-9.
