Thoroughbreds steamroll Oneonta; Ross sets assist record

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Phoebe Ross assisted on seven goals and finished with eight points in a record-setting 21-6 win over SUNY Oneonta on Sunday afternoon. The program also hosted its Morgan's Message Game against the Red Dragons.
  • Ross, who earlier this season tied the single-game assist record of six, registered her seventh helper on Allison Brewer's third goal of the game with 4:41 remaining in the contest. Ross had five assists in the first half.
  • Megan Lawler-2001 and Charlotte Riggs-1993, along with Ross, held the previous record.
  • Skidmore led 8-1 after the first quarter and 13-2 at the break.
  • Skidmore's lead swelled to as many as 16, 21-5, before Oneonta scored the final goal of the afternoon with 1:38 left and the clock running for the 21-6 final.
  • The 21 goals matches the team's season high. Skidmore won 21-1 on March 16 against Bard.
  • Twelve different players scored for Skidmore.
  • Brewer, along with Lily Hudner and Maddy Marr led with three apiece. Marr also chipped in with three assists for five points on the day.
  • Maeve McKinley, Charlotte Taylor, and Emma Caulfield all scored twice.
  • Gabriella Modesti, Lily Schwartzman, Jillian Lockwood, Elizabeth Ross, Hannah Nash, and Ross all scored once.
  • Julia Cafasso had a pair of assists to go along with a game high three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
  • Both Skidmore goalies (Liv Kazanjian, Isabella Iannone) made five saves in split action. Kazanjian got the win, her sixth. She's 6-3 on the year since returning to the lineup.
  • Grace deBenedictis and Ella Harris each had five draw controls. Lockwood had four. Skidmore led in the department 19-10.
  • The Thoroughbreds nearly doubled the Red Dragons in shots (39-20) and shots on goal (31-16).
  • Elizabeth Doherty led Oneonta with three goals and an assist. Both Red Dragon keepers (Julia Hawkins, Courtney Gallagher) had five saves.
NEXT UP: Skidmore will host St. Lawrence and Clarkson in a pair of Liberty League games Friday and Saturday.
