GENEVA, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's lacrosse team held strong with No. 2 William Smith College into the third quarter, but the Herons scored the final eight goals to pull away for a 13-4 victory in a Liberty League contest. The Thoroughbreds fall to 4-6 overall and 2-2 in the conference, while William Smith is now 9-0 and 3-0.
- The Herons jumped out to an early lead, but Skidmore junior Lily Schwartzman tied the game off an assist from Grace deBenedictis with 3:23 to play in the opening frame.
- William Smith scored the next four goals before deBenedictis notched her fourth goal of the season to break the string with 8:18 left in the second quarter.
- Skidmore went on to score the next two goals – Maddy Marr and Julia Cafasso – to get within one goal early in the second half.
- The goals were Marr's 12th and Cafasso's 13th of the season, respectively.
- Jillian Lockwood assisted on Cafasso's marker.
- Natalie Daniels had three of William Smith's final eight goals, while Maddie Montgomery scored twice. Daniels finished with five tallies.
- Maura Smeader had eight saves in the win with Liv Kazanjian tallying 15 on the other end, including five in the first quarter.
- Maeve McKinley had a team-best four draw controls for the Thoroughbreds, who got three ground balls from Kazanjian and Tessa Snyder.
- Skidmore is now 4-2 in its last six games.
