FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Skidmore college baseball team finished its spring break trip strong with a 14-3 triumph over University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on Saturday afternoon.
- Skidmore's bats exploded for 14 runs on 16 hits.
- Sam Kornet led the charge. He drove in five runs on a 2-for-2 afternoon with a pair of walks and three runs scored. Kornet hit a two-run double to open the scoring in the top of the first before blasting a two-run triple to centerfield in the fourth. He later added a sacrifice fly in the seventh.
- Eddie Galvao was 3-for-4 with two batted in, two stolen bases, and two runs scored.
- Owen Roy and Shaw Pedemonti both finished 2-for-4 with a run scored. Roy also worked a walk.
- Trey Bourque scored three times and was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Zachary Leiderman also scored three runs.
- Ethan Barnett pitched three innings of one-run relief to pick up the win. He struck out four hitters.
- Solo homers from Prestash and Hall accounted for two out of the Panthers' four runs. They also plated one in the third as Skidmore turned a double play with runners on first-and-third.
- After taking the lead in the first, Skidmore got two more and led 4-2 after three. The Thoroughbreds struck for four in both the fourth and sixth innings, and then two more in the seventh, to complete the scoring.
- Bradford scored one run over the final four innings of the seven-inning, run-rule shortened game.
- Skidmore scored at least twice in each inning except the second and fifth.
NEXT UP: Skidmore returns north and will open Liberty League play next weekend against Bard. The Thoroughbreds will host the Raptors for a single game on Friday, March 22 at 4 p.m.
