Modesti scores 100th as Skidmore blows past Hartwick, 16-5

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Gabriella Modesti became the 16th player in Skidmore College women's lacrosse history to score 100 career goals on Friday afternoon when the Thoroughbreds dominated from start to finish in a 16-5 win over Hartwick College.
 
  • Skidmore is 2-4 with now two wins in a row to end spring break.
  • Hartwick is 2-2.
  • Modesti, who reached the 100-goal plateau in the middle of the second quarter to make it 9-1, finished with three goals on the day.
  • Maddy Marr also scored three times; her first goals of the season.
  • Phoebe Ross had four assists.
  • Lily Hudner, Lily Schwartzman and Julia Cafasso all scored twice.
  • Maeve McKinley had a goal and two assists. Grace Grbach scored once and had an assist.
  • Elizabeth Walsh and Camille Pontone had the other two Skidmore goals.
  • Live Kazanjian was relied on for eight saves to improve to 2-0.
  • Schwartzman and Walsh both caused two turnovers.
  • Tessa Snyder led all players with five draw controls. Charlotte Taylor had four.
  • Hanna Goodreau and Kara Anderson both scored twice for the visitors. Brooke Lynett had five saves in the first half, Alexa Patrakis made a pair of stops in the second half for the Hawks.
  • Skidmore scored on its first possession and three times in the first 1:42. Hartwick got the next before the Thoroughbreds rattled off six unanswered and took a 10-2 lead into the half.
  • The Thoroughbreds scored 1:10 into the second half and led by as many as 12 down the stretch.
  • Skidmore went 15-for-18 (.833) in clears.
  • The thoroughbreds held a 19-6 edge in draw controls and finished ahead 24-13 in ground balls.
NEXT UP: Skidmore will open Liberty League play and celebrate its seniors on Saturday at 2 p.m. against Bard.
