Thoroughbreds win fourth straight to begin season, 15-8, over Oneonta

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's lacrosse team improved its unbeaten start to four with a 15-8 win over visiting SUNY Oneonta on Wednesday.
  • Brian Gonsalves led with four goals for Skidmore.
  • Charlie McFadden also had four points on three goals and one assist.
  • Caleb Lawson, David Koffler, and Charlie Kessler each had three points. Lawson scored twice, while Koffler and Kessler both had two assists.
  • Nicolo Mazzocca, Jon Bouvier, Jimmy Gibbons, and Gabriel Sgambettera all scored once.
  • Tim Blue had one assist.
  • Avery Stamps improved to 4-0 in goal for Skidmore with 12 saves. Cameron Shipman made two saves in two minutes of shutout relief.
  • Jamie O'Neil led Oneonta with three goals. Thomas Hnis had two.
  • Defensively, Jude Avelino Jr. caused a game high four turnovers. Marty McFadden caused three.
  • Koffler and Jack Fitzpatrick led the team with four ground balls apiece. Fitzpatrick won eight faceoffs.
  • Skidmore had a 4-2 lead after the first quarter, but a 4-4 second period made it 8-6 at the half. Skidmore outscored Oneonta 6-1 in the third and allowed just two goals in the second half for the 15-8 final.
  • Skidmore led 44-38 in shots and 27-22 in shots on goal. Harrison Boukas made 12 saves for the Red Dragons.
  • Oneonta (1-1) finished with slight leads in ground balls (36-33) and faceoffs (14-12).
NEXT UP: Skidmore will host Oswego on Saturday, March 2 at 12 p.m.
