Thoroughbreds win 20-9 in home opener vs. Kean

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's lacrosse team outscored visiting Kane 13-1 over a 20-minute span in the first half on the way to a convincing 20-9 win over the Cougars in the home opener for Skidmore.
  • Kean scored three out of the first four goals of the game before Skidmore got into gear with seven in a row followed by another six unanswered to make it 14-4.
  • The Thoroughbreds outscored Kean 6-4 in the second half for the 20-9 final.
  • Skidmore used three goals each from Charlie McFadden and David Koffler coupled with 14 saves from Avery Stamps.
  •  Caleb Lawson, Charlie Kessler, Brian Gonsalves, and Jimmy Gibbons each found the back of the net twice. Kessler had three assists to lead the team with five points.
  • Nicolo Mazzocca, Cam Mcginty, Jon Bouvier, Shane Spinale, Andrew Meindl, and David Muti each scored once as an even dozen Thoroughbreds had goals. Bouvier also had an assist. Ryan Connolly and Marty McFadden both also had assists.
  • McFadden also had a game high three caused turnovers. His brother Charlie caused two turnovers and had five ground balls. JJ Jablonowski also caused a pair of turnovers.
  • Skidmore was effective in clearing the ball, finishing 27-of-29 for a 93.1 percent success rate.
  • The Thoroughbreds also finished with advantages in ground balls (55-37), shots (49-42), and shots on goal (34-24).
  • Nick Paterno made nine saves in goal for the Cougars. Pasquale Capozzoli had five in relief.
  • Dylan Johnson paced Kean with five goals and an assist. Tommy Hamtil scored twice.
  • Kean finished ahead in the faceoff battle (19-13) and went a perfect 3-for-3 in man-up chances.
  • Skidmore was 0-for-3 with the extra man.
