Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Frisk’s three-point night leads No. 9 Skidmore to 5-2 win over Babson and weekend sweep

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Senior Zach Frisk had a goal and two assists to lead the Skidmore College men's hockey team to a 5-2 win over Babson on Saturday afternoon to secure the weekend sweep of the Beavers.
  • The Thoroughbreds, ranked ninth nationally, are off to a 3-0 start after wins of 3-2 and 5-2 over Babson in the conference-opening weekend at home.
  • Frisk secured his first career multi-goal game with both the second and third Skidmore goals. He also assisted on Skidmore's fifth goal. To finish with three points.
  • Three other Thoroughbreds also had multi-point showings. Cooper Rice registered a goal and an assist while Evan Brown and Coleman Jenkins, both freshmen, had two assists apiece.
  • Will Dow-Kenny and Zach Lindewirth scored the other Skidmore goals.
  • Joshua Seeley turned aside 19 shots to earn his third win already in a Skidmore jersey.
  • Wyatt George and Ian Driscoll were the goal scorers for Babson (1-2, 0-2 NEHC).
  • Kaeden Patrick and Danny Magnuson both picked up assists for Skidmore.
  • Flipping the script from Friday night, it was Skidmore stepping up as the aggressors early. The Thoroughbreds took each of the first six shots of the afternoon leading to a mid-period power play. On the first man-advantage of the day, Lindewirth got along in the slot and lifted a wrist shot to the back of the net to give Skidmore the lead. Patrick and Brown had the assists.
  • Babson tied it with 2:51 left in the opening period.
  • Then, for the second night in a row, the Thoroughbreds answered promptly. It took just under two minutes for Skidmore to re-gain the lead when Frisk scored his first on a tight pass from Magnuson near the top of the crease.
  • Frisk and the Thoroughbreds made it 3-1 at 3:16 of the third when the winger ripped a cross-post wrister on a rush over the blocker.
  • The Beavers closed the gap to one on a 2-on-1 rush after forcing a neutral-zone turnover.
  • Skidmore scored the final two of the game. Dow-Kenny got Skidmore's two-goal cushion back with his first of the year with 2:08 left in the second. Brown set up the play by causing a turnover at Skidmore's defensive blue line. He carried it into the zone and found Dow-Kenny, a defenseman, joining the rush for a drop pass. Dow-Kenny's heavy wrist shot from the high slot beat the goalie on the blocker side again.
  • Rice completed the scoring at 3:40 of the third on a crashing one-timer after Frisk put in a behind-the-back pass from the corner out front.
  • Shots finished 27-21 for Skidmore. Babson goalie Mason Rosado made 22 saves.
  • Ryan Waltman had a spectacular day at the dot, going 18-4 to lead Skidmore to a 30-20 faceoff margin.
  • Skidmore was 1-for-5 on the power play. Babson was 1-for-2.
  • Since Babson beat Skidmore in the 2022 NEHC title game, the Thoroughbred are unbeaten against the Beavers (5-0-1) and have won each of the last five.
