Late goal on power play gives Elmira 3-2 win over No. 7 Skidmore

PINE VALLEY, N.Y. – Cole Tucker scored with 3:17 left to break a 2-2 tie and give Elmira a come-from-behind victory over the Skidmore College men's hockey team in the first of two between the teams over the weekend.
  • The game-winner for Lowe was on the power play. Cam Lowe and Shane Haviland assisted on the tip-in on the original shot from the point.
  • Skidmore (3-1, 2-1 NEHC), ranked seventh nationally, faced a 1-0 deficit before doubling up with goals at the end of the second period and beginning of the third to take a 2-1 lead.
  • Ethan Heidepriem scored from the equalizer from wide open in the slot with 2:49 left in the middle period after Jaden York pick-pocketed the defenseman behind the net.
  • Then, just 27 seconds into the third, reigning NEHC Rookie of the Week Evan Brown scored his third already of the season on the power play on a high wrister with eyes and through traffic. Danny Magnuson and Ryan Waltman assisted.
  • Elmira (3-1-1, 3-0 NEHC) tied it three minutes and one second later coming in off a bad-bounce turnover by Skidmore at the blue line. Nathan Young scored the goal unassisted.
  • Skidmore dominated the shot category 35-19. A 33-save performance for Brody Haynes for the Soaring Eagles held Skidmore to two.
  • Joshua Seeley turned aside 16 shots for Skidmore.
  • Skidmore went 1-for-5 on the power play. Elmira scored on both of its chances.
  • Waltman, quickly becoming one of the top faceoff players in the league, went 20-8 in the circle.
  • Coleman Jenkins led all players with five shots on goal.
