Thoroughbreds suffer 13-10 setback against Vassar

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's lacrosse win streak was halted at four on Wednesday evening with a 13-10 Liberty League loss to Vassar.
 
  • The Thoroughbreds outpaced the Brewers 7-5 in the second half and 5-2 in the fourth quarter but ran out of time. Skidmore scored three times in the final 2:42 of play, and twice inside the final minute.
  • Skidmore dips to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in the Liberty League. Vassar improves to 5-2 and 2-1.
  • Vassar pulled away with a 5-1 second quarter after leading 3-2 after the first.
  • Jillian Lockwood and Gabriella Modesti paced Skidmore with three goals apiece.
  • Grace deBenedictis scored twice for Skidmore and had three draw controls.
  • Lockwood led all players with four draw controls.
  • Elizabeth Walsh and Julia Cafasso had one goal apiece. Lily Schwartzman had an assist.
  • Liv Kajanzian made eight saves for Skidmore in relief. Lauren Johns stopped five shots in the win for Vassar.
  • For the Brewers, Maddy Kretten and Emma Torkelson led the way offensively with three goals each. Kretten also had two assists.
  • Skidmore edged Vassar in the shot department, 30-25, although the visitors had a 21-15 edge in shots on goal.
  • Vassar scored three times in five free-position chances. Skidmore was 1-for-3.
  • NEXT UP: Skidmore will host nationally fourth-ranked William Smith College on Saturday, April 1 at 12 p.m. in the first part of a Skidmore lacrosse doubleheader.
