Thoroughbreds breeze to victory in Liberty League opener, 23-4

ANNANDALE-on-HUDSON, N.Y.—The Skidmore College women's lacrosse team won its third straight game and first Liberty League contest, 23-4 Saturday at Bard College. The Thoroughbreds are 5-1 overall, while the Raptors are 1-4.
  • Lily Schwartzman led the way with five goals. The Thoroughbreds had 12 players score.
  • Maddy Marr had two goals, three assists and two caused turnovers. Jillian Lockwood scored two goals and had two assists to go along with three ground balls and four draw. Elizabeth Walsh Avery Geddes, Maeve McKinley, Camille Pontone and Julia Cafasso had two goals each.
  • Lily Hudner and Amelia Bassett each had a goal and two assists. Sophie Craco and Allison Brewer added solo goals. Ella Harris had a team-high seven draws.
  • The game was never in doubt with Skidmore scoring the game's first nine goals on the way to a 12-1 lead after the first quarter.
  • Schwartzman had three of the first 12 goals and opened the second quarter with her fourth of the game.
  • Skidmore outshot Bard 40-8. Phoebe Beshlian had three saves in net for the win.
  • The Thoroughbreds are 10-0 all-time against Bard.
  • The five wins is already more the team's 2022 total of four. The 5-1 start is the program's best since going 5-1 to open the 2015 season.
  • NEXT UP: Skidmore will host Union College on March 25 at 12 p.m.
