Thoroughbreds dismantle Haverford, 10-5

HAVERFORD, Pa.—The Skidmore College men's lacrosse team led from start to finish for its fifth consecutive win, 10-5 over Haverford College Saturday afternoon. The Thoroughbreds are 5-1, while the Fords are 2-5.
 
  • Brian Gonsalves led the Skidmore offense with four goals. Jon Bouvier scored twice and Charlie McFadden had a goal and two assists.
  • Jack Doherty, Jack Whalen, and Matthew McFadden each scored.
  • Peter Christians had three goals and Andrew Arth scored twice to account for the Haverford scoring.
  • Gonsalves scored 13 seconds into the game and again at 12:06 of the first quarter to put Skidmore in front 2-0.
  • Bouvier and Matthew McFadden made it 4-0 in the second quarter, before Haverford got on the board with the next two goals. Doherty found the net with 2:13 left in the half to make it 5-2 Skidmore at the break.
  • The Thoroughbreds didn't allow the Fords any close than three the rest of the way.
  • Skidmore held a 42-28 shot and 34-19 ground ball advantage. The team went 12-6 on faceoffs with Jack Fitzpatrick taking all 18.
  • The win marked back-to-back victories over Haverford. Skidmore won the 2022 metting, 10-7.
  • The 5-1 start in the program's best since opening the 2015 season 8-1.
  • NEXT UP: Skidmore will travel to Cortland for a make-up game against the Red Dragons on March 22 at 6 p.m.
