Thoroughbreds go on second quarter run to take down Dickinson, 16-10, and sweep trip

EMERSON, Ga. – Gabriella Modesti had eight points and the Skidmore College women's lacrosse team scored four unanswered goals and six out of seven in the second quarter to defeat Dickinson College in a neutral site contest, 16-14. Skidmore (4-1) won both of its games in Georgia. Previously unbeaten Dickinson drops to 5-1.
 
  • Skidmore got four goals and four assists from Modesti in the win to match her career high in points. She previously had eight on March 26, 2022 against Union, where she had three goals and five assists.
  • Grace deBenedictis and Camille Pontone both had three goals for the Thoroughbreds. Pontone also had an assist to finish with four points. 
  • Six different players scored once to account for the remainder of the Skidmore goals: Maddy Marr, Elizabeth Walsh, Lily Schwartzman, Booke LaVallee, Avery Geddes, Julia Cafasso.
  • Phoebe Beshlian registered eight saves in the win.
  • The game was tied at four at the end of the first quarter. The Skidmore run commenced with Pontone's third goal at the 4:21 mark of the second period while Skidmore was a player up.
  • Dickinson managed just one goal over the period of just over 10 minutes to allow Skidmore to grab a 10-6 lead at the half. The Devils were unable to string goals together in the second half allowing the Thoroughbreds to hold on for the win against Dickinson, a team recently coming off a pair of top-20 wins.
  • NEXT UP: Skidmore will play each of its next seven games against Liberty League opponents, starting with a road contest at Bard on Saturday, March 18.
