Thoroughbred offense overwhelms Roger Williams, 18-7.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College men's lacrosse team continued to put up big numbers with an 18-7 win over Roger Williams University Wednesday afternoon at Wachenheim Field. The Thoroughbreds have won four straight for a 4-1 record. The Hawks are 3-3.
  • Jon Bouvier scored five goals and had two assists to lead Skidmore. Brian Gonsalves had four goals and Jimmy Gibbons added two goals and three assists. Charlie McFadden contributed a goal and four assists.
  • Jack Doherty had two goals and an assist, while Tim Blue found the net twice. Charlie Kessler and Will Fekete had single goals.
  • Max Heberlein and Paul Heffernan registered four ground balls and two caused turnovers each.
  • Kevin Murphy led Roger Williams with two goals.
  • The Hawks struck first at 12:49 of the first quarter with a Matt Halpin goal. That would be the only lead of the afternoon for the Hawks. Jack Doherty and Brian Gonsalves put Skidmore up 2-1. Kevin Murphy tied it for RWU with 1:36 left in the quarter, but Skidmore responded with Bouvier's first of the game with :21 left, giving the Thoroughbreds the lead for good.
  • Skidmore took control with seven of the next eight goals, including two in the final 1:07 of the half. Gonsalves scored at 1:07 and McFadden found a wide-open Bouvier with only two seconds left for an 8-3 lead at the half.
  • The Thoroughbreds stretched the lead to 13-5 after three and outscored the Hawks 5-2 in the fourth for the 18-7 final.
  • Collin Kuester had six saves over the first 49:29 to up his record to 4-1. Avery Stamps (2) and Ned Wright (1) combined for three saves the rest of the way.
  • Skidmore has outscored opponents 90-38 through five games, compiling a +10.40 win margin.
  • NEXT UP: The Thoroughbreds head to Haverford College for a March 18 contest.
