Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Thoroughbreds stay perfect with 4-1 win over Albertus Magnus

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College men's hockey team ran its record to 4-0 with an efficient 4-1 win over Albertus Magnus College Friday evening at the Saratoga Springs City Rink. The Falcons fall to 2-3.
  • Everett Wardle led the way with two goals. Jaden York and Danny Magnuson had solo tallies.
  • York's short-handed goal at 13:33 of the first put Skidmore in front for good. Ethan Heidepriem forced a neutral zone turnover along the boards, poking the puck forward to York who skated in alone for his second goal of the season.
  • Wardle made it 2-0 at 1:23 of the second period from Kaeden Patrick and Zach Lindewirth. Magnuson sent the Thoroughbreds in to the second break with a 3-0 lead with his second goal of the year at 9:05 from Zach Frisk.
  • Albertus cut it to 3-1 when Aiden Patterson put back a rebound from in front at 5:32. The Falcons had a chance to pull within one when Gustov Muller got loose on a breakaway, but Skidmore goalie Tate Brandon extinguished the threat to keep it 3-1. Wardle netted an empty netter from Lindewirth and Patrick for the 4-1 final.
  • Brandon finished with 25 saves, including 11 in the third period. Logan Bateman stopped 27 shots in defeat.
  • The Thoroughbreds killed all five visitor power plays.
  • It was the first meeting between the teams.
  • Skidmore is one of only two NEHC teams with a perfect record at this point of the young season. The team is off to its best start since going 4-0-2 to start the 2006-07 season.
  • NEXT UP: The Thoroughbreds host SUNY Canton in a non-league game on Saturday at 4 p.m.
