CANTON, N.Y. – The Skidmore College volleyball team clinched a spot in the Liberty League Tournament with a straight set win over St. Lawrence on the road on Saturday.

- Skidmore will appear in the postseason for the first time since 2017.
- It is the first time the Thoroughbreds have qualified for the tournament since the field was expanded to six teams in 2022. Skidmore can finish as high as fifth in the league. The first-round opponent will be decided next weekend.
- The Thoroughbreds topped host SLU 25-18, 25-19, 26-14 before dropping the second half of the tri-match, a spirited non-league tilt against Brockport, in four sets (25-17, 24-26, 25-20, 26-24).
- At the completion of play Saturday, Skidmore stands at 9-13 overall and 3-4 in the Liberty League.

Skidmore 3, St. Lawrence 0
- Skidmore's balanced attack featured eight kills from Maya Stolarz and Madison Manning, six from Jo Blanco, and five each from Carolyn Scott and Catriona Hoelperl.
- Skidmore dominated the net with a 9-0 edge in total blocks. Jazlin Chen led the way with six block assists. Followed by Stolarz, Manning, and Ella Harris, who all had three.
- Hoelperl finished with 17 assists to go along with her five kills.
- Blando posted 14 digs to lead the squad. Athena Braverman finished with nine, and Chen had six.
- For St. Lawrence, Araiza Acum-Santos posted 11 kills while Vivian Zymeck had 10. Vanessa Latam had 22 assists, 11 digs, and three aces.
- Skidmore pulled away in the opening set by ending on an 8-2 run.
- The Thoroughbreds catapulted to a big lead early in set two. SLU rattled off seven out of eight points to pull to within one, 16-15.
- Skidmore countered with the next three points to build a four-point lead. The Saints scored twice before the Thoroughbreds got four unanswered to get to within two points of going up 2-0.
- Skidmore allowed two before scoring the next two to get a commanding 2-0 lead.
- The third set remained close throughout. St. Lawrence led 23-22 before back-to-back kills by Manning and Stolarz gave the Thoroughbreds a match point.
- St. Lawrence fought it off with an Acum-Santos kill to tie it at 24.
- Hoelperl won it with the final two kills to give Skidmore the sweep.

Brockport 3, Skidmore 1
- Skidmore was one point away from forcing a deciding fifth set when a service error followed by two Thoroughbred attack errors gave Brockport a 26-24 set victory and the match win.
- Chen put down a team high 13 kills to go along with a pair of aces to lead Skidmore.
- Harris had nine kills with six blocks. Two of her blocks were solo stuffs.
- Blanco tallied also tallied nine kills and had 17 digs.
- Tiffany Flores had a match high three service aces to accompany her team high 17 assists.
- Emma Ferrigno had 16 assists.
- Braverman finished with 18 digs and four assists.
- Skidmore bounced back from a shaky offensive start to finish with a .183 hitting percentage, including marks of .342 in the second game and .297 in the fourth.
- Brockport hit .204 as a team.
- Brockport entered the driver's seat in the opening set thanks to a run of seven unanswered points to take a 19-11 lead.
- Skidmore was up against set point in the second frame, but used consecutive kills from Stolarz, Chen, and Blanco to even the match up at one.
- The teams shared scoring runs in the third set until the Golden Eagles led by one, 20-19.
- Brockport scored the next two and after one from Skidmore, scored the next three to take a 2-1 set lead.
- Brockport jumped to a 12-5 lead in the fourth set before Skidmore inched back into it before Ferrigno went on a service run to help Skidmore score seven points in a row to lead by two, 19-17.
- A few traded points led to a 22-20 Skidmore lead. Brockport went ahead with three quick unanswered points. Scott dropped a kill and Skidmore used a Brockport attack error to get to set point, 24-23, before Brockport came back to end it in four.

NEXT UP: Skidmore will close the conference schedule next weekend with a road match against RIT and a neutral site game against Alfred University.
