Thoroughbreds stumped by Southern Maine

GORHAM, Maine – Southern Maine scored six unanswered goals to take down the Skidmore College men's hockey team, 6-2, on Friday night.
 
  • The Thoroughbreds fall to 11-6-3 and 5-5-2 (18 points) in the New England Hockey Conference. Southern Maine is 5-14-2 and 4-10 (12 points).
  • After a scoreless opening period, Connor Wood and Zach Lindewirth scored early in the second to give Skidmore a 2-0 lead.
  • Southern Maine responded with two, including the tying goal with 33 seconds left in the period, to hit the second intermission knotted up at two.
  • The Huskies added four more in the third period.
  • Curtis Judd led the way for Southern Maine with a hat trick and a pair of assists for five points. Austin Marini had two goals and an assist.
  • Skidmore out-shot the hosts by a 37-26 margin, and had a 69-43 edge in attempted shots.
  • Southern Maine came through on the power play, connecting in 3-of-5 opportunities, while Skidmore finished 0-for-4.
  • NEXT UP: Skidmore will look to get back on track Saturday at 4 p.m. against 14th-ranked Babson.
